What our New Mexico customers say about Sherpa:

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

"We couldn't have been happier with the service we received from Sherpa or Ro-Way Express. Excellent communication with both companies. Gabriela was my primary contact for Ro-Way and was excellent at keeping me apprised of the status of our vehicle. Emil (transporter) was a joy to deal with and took very good care of our vehicle, which arrived in pristine condition, sooner than expected to New Mexico."

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

"I bought a car in New Mexico and I didn't wanna drive it from New Mexico to where I live in Arizona, so I decided to have it transported. I liked the speed with which Sherpa could do it. Other delivery services were saying that I'd get it anywhere from a week to a month, and Sherpa got it to me in three days, although it cost more."

Google
★★★★★

"I worked with Sherpa to ship my car from Santa Fe, New Mexico, to central Florida and back again 4 months later. Great experience both times. Was able to keep in touch with the driver throughout the transport process. Car was picked up and delivered within expected window. Car arrived at destination safe and sound both times."

Factors that affect New Mexico Car Shipping Prices

  • Distance: New Mexico's vast landscapes mean longer distances for shipping. Routes from Albuquerque to major cities like Phoenix or Denver will be cheaper than shipping to more remote areas like Taos or Silver City.
  • Trailer Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for most vehicles. Enclosed trailers offer extra protection but cost about 50% more and may have longer delivery times. They're typically only necessary for high-value or classic cars.
  • Pickup and Drop-off Locations: Urban areas like Albuquerque or Santa Fe are cheaper for pickup and delivery than rural locations. Consider meeting your carrier near major highways like I-25 or I-40 to potentially reduce costs.
  • Seasonal Factors: New Mexico's climate can impact shipping costs. Summer heat may increase prices due to higher demand and potential vehicle cooling needs. Winter snow in northern areas might affect accessibility and pricing.
  • Vehicle Size and Type: Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks common in New Mexico's rugged terrain cost more to ship than smaller cars. High-clearance vehicles are easier to load, potentially reducing costs.
  • Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to ship. If your car doesn't start or roll, expect higher costs for special equipment needed to load it.
  • Timing and Flexibility: Booking in advance and being flexible with pickup dates can lead to better rates. Rush orders or specific date requirements typically cost more.
  • Route Popularity: Shipping along popular routes like Albuquerque to Los Angeles or Dallas is often cheaper due to higher carrier availability.

Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping your vehicle to or from New Mexico. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

  • Book early: Schedule your shipment at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles from the same area.
  • Choose open transport: Open shipping provides the lowest rates and greatest flexibility for negotiating prices. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport is typically more cost-effective.
  • Strategic pickup/dropoff locations: Work with Sherpa advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-25 or I-40. Cities like Albuquerque or Santa Fe, situated along these highways, can be ideal for cost-effective transport.
  • Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items to reduce weight and avoid potential liability issues. Car shipping companies aren't responsible for items left in the vehicle.
  • Be flexible: Offering flexibility in pickup and delivery dates can lead to better options and potential savings. Consider adjusting your schedule to take advantage of more cost-effective transport opportunities.
  • Consider seasonal factors: New Mexico's climate can affect transport costs. Summer months may see higher demand due to tourism, while winter weather in northern regions could impact scheduling. Plan accordingly to potentially save on your shipment.
